Meet Brigita, the Founder of Lauku Tea
In case you haven't visited the Our Story page of our website, we'd love to introduce you to Brigita, the founder of Lauku Tea.
Growing up, Brigita spent her summers in the country with her grandmother, baking rye bread from scratch and discovering herbs in meadows. After discovering the abandoned Ozolini farm with her husband in 1977, the young couple spent their summers bringing the farm back to life. Ozolini was an escape from the city, a place for Brigita to feel rejuvenated and restored.
From an old book left behind in the Ozolini kitchen, Brigita discovered a recipe for fermented apple leaf tea. This recipe was the genesis of Brigita's Daylight Blend—a blend she has since made her own—and the beginning of Lauku Tea.
Brigita was one of the first enthusiasts of organic and sustainable food production in Latvia and has since become a leader in the movement, giving talks and teaching at functions. Nature is where Brigita gets her strength and inspiration, and finds solace when she needs it. She sees Lauku Tea as her way to pass on what she's learned, preserve nature and share its gifts with the world.
Brigita’s Daylight Blend is her original recipe, made with love by Brigita and her family every season. We hope you feel that love with every cup.
Hugs and bućas!
